Queen’s Park – Today Barrie MPP Rod Jackson announced the launch of a province-wide Community and Social Services tour featuring Bill 88, Child and Family Services Amendment Act (Children 16 Years of Age and Older), 2013 or the Youth Right to Care bill.
Recently, Jackson was promoted in Shadow Cabinet as the new Community and Social Services Critic. This is his first major initiative to give a voice to people across Ontario and to raise awareness for the Youth Right to Care bill.
“I look forward to hearing from Ontarians on a range of issues that impact anyone who is vulnerable in our society,” said Jackson. “The Youth Right to Care bill is an example of my commitment to listening to bold ideas and getting things done.”
Last month, Jackson and team were honoured by Justice for Children and Youth with the Youth Legal Services Award for demonstrating leadership in reducing youth homelessness.
“The Youth Right to Care bill is going to change children’s lives for the better. We must now lobby the Government to commit to calling Bill 88 to committee so that we can ensure this long over-due change happens,” concluded Jackson.
